The 28 best casual restaurants in Wanhua (2024)

Fu Hang Soy Milk is a renowned breakfast spot in Taipei, known for its traditional Taiwanese breakfast offerings. The restaurant serves up specialties like shaobing, fantuan, and warm salty soy milk with youtiao. It's a popular choice among locals and tourists alike, often attracting long queues due to its reputation for quality food and drink. Despite the wait times, many consider it well worth the visit for an authentic taste of Taiwanese cuisine.

The hyped shao bing place. Have like 4 Michelin guide plate. Took me about 30 mins to queue up during Saturday morning peak hrs . Worth the wait. Although as a foreigner, I couldn't taste that much difference than the other shao bing I ate before. But this one have a thicker shao bing. Not that flaky. More like a bread.

This place is kind of a must-go for any tourist who is trying to try local food. It has Michelin star under its belt from 2018 till 2022 (2023 not out yet) and I can tell why. The soy milk has roasted with a taste of burnt favour which I never had that feeling with other places. The sweetness is just nice. The pancake with fried fritter is just perfect - I recommend you to get it all in one and pull put the fried fritter to eat separately (cheaper that way). Fried fritter should be dipped into the soy milk (hot version) then you eat the dipped parts. It's heavenly! The sesame ball is average, I don't see much wow factor. Note that I queue for at least a good 50 minutes to the store so plan to go there early or you will be very disappointed. The store is shared with other eateries so you need to get your partner to find a seat or you will be forced to do takeaway. It's an assembly line so please get ready to order - they are not going to be patient when the queue behind you displays unpleasant looks. 🤣

We exited the station around 9:30am on a Friday with a line that took maybe 30-45 min. Everyone was polite and respectful in line so it wasn’t a bad experience. The food ordering was quick once at the counter and could easily find a table in the food court despite the rush of people. We had all soy milk types - salty, hot, and cold. My favorite was the salty one with some fried dough included. We tried the thick bread with egg and scallions as well as a caramel bun. All were great! Everything was well balanced and delicious!

I heard that Taiwanese culture values breakfast very much.Maybe that's why there were many customers in the morning. Thanks to you, I felt good because the surroundings were full of energy. The line is long, but the rotation rate is fast, so you don't have to worry. The food is usually sweet and greasy.

HAKRAI J — Google review

I started queueing at 6.20am on a Sunday morning. I got my food at 7.40am. So my family queued for close to 1.5 hours just for this meal. For the first time in my life I queued something this long. The queue was pretty quick even though it was 1.5 hours long. However it was pretty worth it. Would say this is the best soy milk you will ever have in the world. And recommend y'all to try both hot and cold soy milk cause both tasted quite different but surprisingly good still. The fried bread stick is really crispy and slightly chewy though not hard to bite chewy (hard to describe). The rice milk is really good as well. Advice: Don't plan to go during weekends.

Be prepared to line up BUT it is worth it, if you want to try some delicious traditional Chinese breakfast/brunch. The line moves well and you soon walk pass the preparation area on your way to the counter to collect and pay for your food and soy milk. The little dinning area just reminds you of how old this place is but still churning out great snacks and soy milk. If you go late some thing will run out. Well worth a visit if you in Taipei!

Delicious! Definitely get the 飯糰! It goes so well with a bowl of warm soy milk. A great spot for breakfast or brunch. Even though there is always a queue, service is very quick and price is very affordable.

Great place for a hearty breakfast! Do come early(6:30am had roughly 20min wait) or later than 10:30am to avoid the rush. I was told the line can easily go over an hour. Food tasted good but could be warmer. I ordered flat bread with Chinese donut(4.5*), egg pancake(4.5* probably a 5* if I hadn't messed it up with too much sauce), caramel bun(3.5*), cold soy milk(5*). Both the dining area and bathroom were reasonably clean. I opted to sit by the window with a view to the intersection.

I heard this place has the best Taiwanese breakfast in town. So I wanted to give a trip during my trip to Taiwan. This place was 10 minutes drive from my hotel. I was surprised to see people waiting in the queue from early morning on weekend. I also joined the queue see where it takes. After straight 45 minutes, I reached the counter. The waitress was able to speak English. I ordered their famous breakfast bread and sweet rice soup. It’s a big portion for me to finish it. The bread with egg was so good. I am glad I was able to finish it, but the soup was too much for me. If you’re traveling Taipei, it’s worth stopping by the place for breakfast. I paid by cash, not sure they accept card. 👍🏻👌🏻

Lives up to the hype. I love soy milk and in different forms. They have hot, they have cold, they have sweet and they have savory. And all done really well. The you tiao is probably the best I have had in asia, light, flaky and so good dunking into your soy milk. The savory silky warm tofu, with chives and cilantro was surprisingly so good and refreshing. Then the rice ball with pork floss and meat was also very nice.Come early as the line gets long really fast but it moves quickly. Lives up to the hype!

This place was pretty hyped to be busy so we went on a Wednesday morning by 7:15am and the wait wasn't too bad, maybe 10-15 min. The line grew longer as we ate there but didn't seem crazy. It did extend further out of the building though by 10:30am when we walked past again. As for the food, I don't think it was mind-blowing but the flavors were strong (the soy especially) and authentic. Prices were also pretty good. If you want to add extras to your order, apparently you can just skip the line and go back to the front counter to order. I don't know how they remembered us but they waved us up to skip the line when we ordered extra takeout to go.

We got here around 8:30am and the line was long - about 1 hour 20 minutes - but still totally worth it. There is plenty of space to eat when you get inside. We ordered a lot - and everything was totally delicious. The salty soy milk, cold soy milk, rice balls, fried dough sticks with egg and thick wrap, everything tasted the best I've ever had.I would recommend this no matter how long the line is when you visit Taipei.

David C — Google review

Not only is it delicious but it also brought me back to my childhood memories, even though I'm not Taiwanese. If you want to eat like at home, fresh and hot dishes with balanced flavors, you absolutely have to go there! And pescatarian friendly!!100/10!!!

Sana T — Google review

This place serves really good breakfast food, but be prepared to line up and wait for 30min - 1hr in order to order your food. We went there on a Sunday morning about 9am, in a rainy day, but still we had to wait for about 30-40min. However, the food is so good that it is worth the wait. We recommend to get the salty soy milk, and also the signature thick bread with egg and donut stick. The volume of the food is pretty big, that it was like eating brunch.

Han P — Google review

Line was super long at 8:30 am but went by really fast. Service was great and helpful. We ordered the sweet soy milk cold, salty soy milk, thick bread with eggs and donut stick, rice ball, egg pancake and caramel bun. Everything was delicious!! Worth the wait. Remember, it’s also cash only.

Lan D — Google review

Went on Sunday at 11am and got in at around 12pm. The food hall is very crowded so expect to wait a while to get a seat. The sandwich with the fry dough and egg does not taste good at all. It's not hot as it's prepared beforehand and it's dry and hard to chew. The rice ball is also very oily and nothing surprising about it. The salty soy milk is the only thing which is good but I will not come back to queue again only for the soy milk. There are many other better breakfast stores in Taiwan and definitely don't need to wait for this long. Totally not worth the wait and will not come back again.

Grace H — Google review

Be prepared for the long queue but definitely worth it. Would go back again for the 豆浆. Have never tasted parsley that good in my life. The soy milk is different from what we have in Singapore, there’s a hint of peanut, tasty.Got the 厚烧饼 with fried dough sticks and egg. Would not recommend adding the fried dough sticks, the deep fried oil taste is overwhelming. Just the egg add-on is enough.

Daryl K — Google review

It’s one of the most popular Chinese Taiwanese breakfast place In Taipei. Very long lines, around the block and then up the stairs, about 30 minutes wait on an average morning.Very prompt and efficient order process, it’s better you take a look at the menu ahead of time so you know what you want. You get the food right away.We didn’t have problems finding a table (Thursday 8am) and the previous party left it reasonably clean. The most famous item is the thick crust bread, which you can add fried doughnut stick and/egg.We had both thick crust and thin crust, both are excellent. We also had the stuffed sticky rice, it was made pretty well, by the time when I get to it, it was already a little cold so not as great as I’d like.We had both sweat and salty soy milk, both excellent.

Tony F — Google review

Waited around 45 minutes to be served, so I had high expectation for the soy milk and food.We got the soy milk in both cold and hot. It was very smooth and had a nice soy flavour to it and was slightly sweetened. We ordered the signature thick bread with egg and donut stick and the thick bread with egg. I really enjoyed both, particularly the one with the donut stick. The bread and the donut stick was pillowy and crispy and had a distinctive slight sweetness to it, while the egg was soft and savoury.I don’t mind waiting this long for food, so I enjoyed this meal throughly.

Jereme L — Google review

One of the most popular soy milk in Taipei, for me personally it was alright, I had both the thick bread and the flat bread with egg and donut stick. It was bit too greasy to my liking but definitely delicious, a guilty pleasure! Super long queue, was it worth the wait? I would say it was worth it for a one time experience. The soy milk was the best I had in Taipei so its worth a try. When ordering please make sure that you’ve have your order ready or else you’ll be panicking when they are rushing you ;)

Danny N — Google review

The breakfast is authentic Taiwanese, it’s extremely good and the prices are very low.It is worth the wait.Check out the menu earlier, because by the counter they don’t speak much English and the menu is in Chinese. It’s better to just show them the numbers of what you want.My favorite is the eggs with thick bread.

MaD ( — Google review

We arrived here at 937am and placed our order after queueing for 23 minutes, faster than we expected! The dough sticks were awesome and crispy, other dishes were just as good. Didn’t like the salty soybean as much though

Luggage O — Google review

Went at 7:45am on a Tuesday morning and the wait was about 30mins (for reference, we joined the line near the subway exit). The soy milk was smooth, silky, and just the right amount of sweetness for me. I’m usually not a fan of the salty soy milk, but this was very well-balanced, making me want to go back for more. Both the thick and flat bread were really well-baked, the thick bread was sweet, so I liked the flat bread better. The one thing I didn’t like was the Chinese donut as it was too greasy. Overall, worth the wait!

For this trip back to Taiwan, I specifically chose to stay at the Sheraton Grand Taipei Hotel because it's only a five-minute walk to Fu Hang Soy Milk, which I've been craving for years. We got in line before 5 AM to finally relive the nostalgic flavors of my hometown. We ordered rice milk, savory soy milk, rice ball, and a signature thick bread with scrambled eggs & a donut stick. The quality was just as amazing as I remembered, and it did not disappoint. This is the taste of home that I've been longing for!

We arrived at 5.35am, and were being served at 6.20ishNice menus offered in many languages - the queue moves quickly but is long. The seating is quite open and fresh, but no one is cleaning the tables after you.The food was good, the donuts are quite oily, the soya milk was good, and the flat bread was my preferred choice.Happy to try - but wouldn’t queue an hour for this food at 5.30am again.

Saleem B — Google review

The line is endless and i'm quite sure most of them are not curious tourist. We waited for like 40 mins in the queue, 1 min for the order and 5 mins to find a spot to seat. Unlike what we imagined, the savoury soy milk was so good. It comes with a hearty prawn soup and crispy bread stick, and it doesn't oily and greasy as most other dishes in the menu. The flat bread with omelet and fried bread stick is fine, while the soy milk is also good

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a massive queue that spanned two floors. Thankfully, the queue moved quick and we managed to place our orders quite quickly. However we felt that the place has been overhyped and the food was mediocre, despite the multiple awards that were displayed on their shopfront. Worth a try if you are in the area but don’t expect to be blown away!

Ben L — Google review

The food was good, but it was cold, so you don't get the full sense of the food quality. Only the soybean milk is hot if you order it so. The service is fast. You tell the lady at the counter what you want and she places it on your tray and you pay for it at the end of the counter. Since the shop is in a food court you can sit anywhere in the food court. There's no ambiance whatsoever. The store has been featured in the Michelin guide for 5 years. It didn't make it in the guide last year nor this year. What does that say, I don't know? I did enjoy the breakfast, especially the price. It costs less than $20 for 5 people and we were all full.

I am a big fan of 燒餅(flat sesame bread) and 油條(fried donut stick). To be honest, I can have same thing at any other places, without a long line. Their flat bread does taste a bit more flaky (and bigger) than others. But the fried stick is a lot greasier. I guess they don’t have enough time to drip the oil after frying because of the high serving speed. Thick bread is interesting - sugar coated on one side. I am a more traditional guy so this is not my cup of tea. We got there at 6:50 on a Wednesday morning, waited 45 mins to get served. Overall, some interesting experience, but does it worth the wait? Eh~

Goya L — Google review

Fantastic Taiwanese style breakfast foods. The wait was around 20mins, but definitely worth it. I had the cold soy milk which was very refreshing. The signature flatbread with Chinese donut and egg was amazing. The cost is reasonable and service is very quick once you get to the counter.

Taiwanese breakfast here taste so good. Took a cab ride here, and it's worth it. The line to queue was 1.5 blocks to the door and up a flight of stairs. I ordered take out but you can eat in. You still have to queue to order your food to eat in. It's fast pace ordering and they speak English. My favorite is cold soybean milk and rice ball

Patricia C — Google review

I went with a friend at around 9am. Got in the line at the point where it was down the stairs and extended just out the door. It was around a 15 min wait, and it was easy to find seats.Salty soymilk reminded me of hot and sour soup but not hot and sour, while sweet had just a subtle sweetness. Both were good. For breakfast, i think the thin sesame sandwich with egg and donut inside could be split between two people, as both of us couldn’t finish ours.

Christie V — Google review

It's a real long queue. Waited for 1 hour to try. Ordered Rice Milk 熱米漿, Salty Soy Milk 鹹豆漿, Egg Pancake 蛋餅 and Sesame Flat Bread with Egg and Donut Stick 薄餅蛋夾油條.The Salty Soy Milk and Rice Milk is unique and strongly recommended to order it. The donut stick is really crispy, but I find it a bit too oily.

Jianhui — Google review

Waited around 45 mins in queue, the cold sweet soy milk was aromatic and delicious but not worth the wait. The other menu items left us feeling a little disappointed. The 油条 was way too greasy. We also weren't a fan of the sesame flat bread with egg, salty soy milk, brown sugar pastry, and green onion roll. Everything was a bit too bland for our palate.

Judy U — Google review

I arrived at 6.15 AM on Wednesday,it’s no longer queues anymore. The last queue can walk to second floor. Salty soy milk is very good,It looks like savory.I ate it a bowl,I felt full. Egg pancake is so so,it’s a little bit oily .Chinese doughnut or Youtiao is very oily too .It’s deep fried and sucks oils into it. It’s very crispy. Soy milk(no sugar added) is so good, the texture is very thick,I bought it for take away because I was so full.

Muanphan K — Google review

Is this place good? Sure, but I don’t think it’s worth the long waits at times. If you are staying at the Sheraton hotel like I usually do, this place is very convenient and just down the street. But beware, lines are extreme on the weekends. Tour buses will literally drop off a whole gaggle of tourists. The picture you see is of the line down the stairs and wrapped around the building at 6am on a Saturday, and the tourists trying to figure out the ordering and payment add to the wait times. Try to come on a weekday morning instead, as lines typically are much shorter and I’ve regularly got my breakfast within a 15 min wait.As for the food, yes it’s good. Pretty standard fare just done rather well. Even if you are going to eat here at the food court, I recommend asking for the soy milk to be in a to-go container, as it’s just easier to consume in a cup than in a bowl.

Sean H — Google review

Disappointing.I had the Salty soy milk, Signature thick bread with egg and fried donut and soy milk (Hot). The food was GREASY. The oil probably wasn't hot enough, so the food had absorbed the oil.Apart from this, the hot soy milk was good.Overall, not worth the long wait.*Those food bloggers lied!

Lise N — Google review

The morning queue around 6AM stretches for about 45 minutes. The silky smooth soy milk is good, but the oily Chinese donuts (Yew Tiao) fall short. While the thick bread and egg bread are just okay. The real standout is the Caramel Bun. Overall, the wait might not be worth it if you are not a morning person. The queue in late morning can be up to an hour or so.To skip the hassle, consider ordering through Klook for a queue-free experience.

Esther K — Google review

Crazy very long queue! The store is on the second floor of this food court. We queue from the first floor pedestrian.Total queue time: 40mins.- Salty soy milk: basically savory tofu soup- Sweet soy milk: taste like sesame drink- Rice ball w/ abon and fried dough filling- sesame flat fried bread w/ fried dough filling

Raisha W — Google review

Honestly it's good, and it's fine to queue 30min or so since you get served instantly, it's almost the same time as sitting somewhere and ordering and waiting for the food to come. The sesame flat bread is my favourite, I took with egg buut I didn't like the egg so I removed it. Sesame bread with donut stick is so good (n 23).But:- Soymilk way too sweet, they probably add so much sugar- Caramel bun seemed burnt- Salty soymilk good but nothing crazy- Signature thick bread good but I thought it'd be more favourful. There is green oignon but still bland.I'd still recommend to try.One tip is to type your order on your phone notes app, and just show, it's quicker. My order was:内用31131241 (冰,打包)
